Visitors from Afar

We had 2 friends come and stay with us last week and we had so much fun with them! Bonnie, a mission comp and Haley, a roommate from USU, discovered through Facebook that they both were planning a trip to HI. It worked out so they both came together. It was fun to be around people we know and love so well! Here's a few things we did while they were here:

Pali Lookout, windiest spot on Oahu. This picture is dedicated to Cindy, my sister, and Grandma W. Cindy and I took a picture just like this back in 2002 on our family vacation because Grandma W. has a picture exactly the same from like the late 70s.
Ali'i Luau at the PCC. Pile your plate at high as you can the first time cuz this ain't Golden Corral and you can't go back to the buffet as many times as you'd like!
Our alternative to the USS Arizona in Pearl Harbor: A submarine monument. The Arizona stuff was closed on the day we decided to visit it because it rained a lot and got flooded or something.
Shopping at the SwapMeet at the Aloha Stadium. I bought 3 necklaces for $5 here and then later in the day I saw 1 necklace (exact same thing) for $8 at WalMart. Besides the fact that it rained the whole time we were here, it was a lot of fun. I especially liked the part when we downed a 1.5 lb loaf of Hula Bread in like 5 minutes!

Tahitian Dances and Tongan Fishes

Here's a little video of Dave dancing like a Tahitian. It runs in the family... my brothers, Jeff and RB (especially RB) can also dance like Tahitians. I couldn't really get a good shot of Dave from the front because the hut was really crowded.

And here is a video of the fish we made in Tonga. My fishing pole eventually got bent preventing my fish from flying as well as others :(

Published

My next major breakthrough towards fame and fortune happened last month! Ok, not really. But I did submit an article to the Hawaii TESOL (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages) association, to which I belong, and they published it in the February edition of The Word. (After you click on The Word, go to stars in the middle of the page and click on the Feb 2009 issue... I'm on the bottom of the first page.)

At first it might not look like much, especially because I'm talking about Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches. But really, it looks good on my resume. And since I'm fairly temporary and will eventually be looking for another job again one day, I'm all about building up my resume!!

Work, Work, Work

This is my office. Dave usually stops by when he finishes work and reads a book for awhile.
One of my classes from last semester. These particular students come from Mexico, So. Korea, Fiji, Japan, and China.
This is Dave at work. He's cleaning a car at the PCC.

Contrary to popular belief, we spend more time at work that we do sitting on the beach drinking pineapple juice!! These pictures are the proof!

Changing Seasons: Not Hawaiian

My mom just showed me this cool video. Not that I'm complaining about living in Hawaii, cuz I'm not... but I really do love watching the seasons change. That's one thing you can't do in Hawaii!
