It's what you became a few days ago... a Very Old Guy!
Sorry... couldn't resist. Happy belated, by the way. I hear you make a mean chocolate cake.
VOG is a portmanteau of the words "volcanic" and "smog," and a volcanic smog is formed when sulfur dioxide and other gases emitted by an erupting volcano mix with oxygen and moisture in the presence of sunlight. The term is most often applied to the island of Hawaiʻi, where the Kīlauea volcano has been erupting continuously since 1983. Kīlauea emits an estimated 2,000 tons of vog every day.
I win!
Cindy, you totally plagiarized that from wikipedia! Minus 10 points.
So if I'd reworded it and cited Wikipedia, would that still count? Thanks for helping us all be smarter! :)
Actually, maybe Cindy came up with the definition, put it on Wikipedia, and then used the same stuff in her comment! So is that really what it is? Volcanic fog?
